Hayward is a city of about 160,000 residents in Alameda County, situated between Oakland and Fremont along the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay. It is one of the larger cities in the East Bay and functions as a working and middle-class hub for people who commute to jobs in San Jose, Oakland, and San Francisco. The city divides into two distinct zones: the flatlands near the bay, with dense blocks of older single-family homes, duplexes, and small apartment buildings, and the Hayward Hills to the east, where larger lots, more trees, and homes built from the 1960s through the 1990s sit on sloped terrain. The two areas have different soil conditions, drainage patterns, and home styles, and fence work in each zone requires different approaches.
One of Hayward's most well-known geographic features is the Hayward Fault, which runs directly through the city and is considered one of the most earthquake-prone fault systems in California. Homes and fences in this city are built in a seismically active environment, and homeowners here are accustomed to checking for new cracking after any noticeable ground movement. Our service area connects Hayward to the cities on both sides: Castro Valley is directly to the north and east in the hills, and San Leandro sits just north along the bay - both are part of our regular service area.
